The waste water is treated by the Biocycle and then clean odourless disinfected water is recycled through garden sprinklers onto our trees and lawn.</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We are careful about the cleaning products we use in the house as ammonia and bleaches should not be put through the Biocycle. There are plenty of environmentally friendly cleaning products on the market but they are expensive so I had a go at making my own laundry powder. We've used it about 4 times now and I have no complaints with how clean the clothes are. I also love that our clothes don't come out with that overpowering perfume smell that some commercial laundry powders have.</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="color: purple;">I researched many recipes and in the end combined a few together to come up with this.</span> </span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><u><b>Laundry Powder Recipe</b></u></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOm9ykpd2LZnI16nPzoG8gls4shljC4K93Tll_zdNZ30sWlCQb-6gZ5olH84uArKfASsPVLwsmj6ubwTplkEqcs1HIdO4mnkxdx_MTWTjPLOSEvg18fuuhJkjhsLyKguAJIWY9u331maw/s1600/laundry+Soap.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="435" data-original-width="660" height="262" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOm9ykpd2LZnI16nPzoG8gls4shljC4K93Tll_zdNZ30sWlCQb-6gZ5olH84uArKfASsPVLwsmj6ubwTplkEqcs1HIdO4mnkxdx_MTWTjPLOSEvg18fuuhJkjhsLyKguAJIWY9u331maw/s400/laundry+Soap.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">6 Cups Washing Soda</span></li>
<li><span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">3 Cakes Biome True Castile Soap <span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>(any castile or pure unscented soap is fine)</i></span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">1 Cup Epsom Salts</span></li>
<li><span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">1/2 Cup Bi Carb Soda</span></li>
<li><span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">A few drops of tea tree oil or any essential oil</span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I chopped the soap into small pieces and then put it all in my thermomix (food processor) and blended until it was the consistency of washing powder. Due to the little bit or oil and the waxy consistency of the soap it does form little balls within the powder. It looks very much like bought laundry powder.</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The washing soda, bi carb and epsom salts are all very cheap ingredients. The Castile soap was $7.95 a cake so that made the powder more expensive than it needed to be but still not as expensive as bought laundry power. </span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I will source my castile soap from a different place next time. . </span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It left a bit of a waxy film in my thermomix but I just blended a lemon with a little water after I'd washed it and it came up shiny and clean just like a new one. </span>Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11052793278743171961noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4669586342951257647.post-52377632495640361242019-10-27T12:29:00.001+10:002019-10-27T12:29:27.783+10:00Penelope Chloe<span style="color: magenta;">We have a new little grandchild Penelope Chloe born on the 10th October 2019. <span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I'm on a Vegan bent at the moment and made these for dinner. I made the mixture in the Thermie being careful not to over blend. They could be done by hand but I made them after a busy day at work so was looking for the shortcuts. Very delicious. </span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>Ingredients</b></span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1.5 cups of black beans <i>(I made these from dry beans that had been soaked and cooked then frozen but canned could be used)</i></span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1 onion</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">3 garlic cloves</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1/2 red capsicum</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1 cup rolled oats</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">3 tablespoons of tomato sauce</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce (of BBQ sauce)</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1 teaspoon onion powder</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1 teaspoon paprika</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1 teaspoon steak seasoning</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>Method</b></span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Preheat the oven to 180 degrees</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Cut the onion in half and roughly chop the capsicum. Put in the thermie with the garlic cloves and pulse for a couple of seconds. (You want it chopped but not too mushy)</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Add all the other ingredients and pulse till combined. (Don't overmix)</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Line a baking tray with baking paper and place patties onto the tray. I didn't want to get my hands mucky so I used a 1/2 cup measure to plonk the patties onto the tray and the mixture made 7 patties.</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Cook for around 30 minutes or until crispy on the edges. </span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I had one on a heated pita bread with lettuce and tomato. </span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">We moved back into our house in the bush 6 weeks ago after our last lot of tenants moved out. We decided it's time to keep the house for ourselves and start turning our dreams into reality. It's only been 6 weeks but there is so much to write about. I'll start with the transformation of the dam into a lake. </span><br />

</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">There were a few reasons for doing this, not the least being we need more water. We have big plans for the gardens and therefore need a way to keep the water up to them. The second reason was one of aesthetics looking out onto the dam has always been one of my favourite things about being here and now looking over "the lake" has made that even more enjoyable. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span>
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>Ducks up early</b></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">The last reason for the enlargement was to make better use of the rain when it finally comes. Every few years we get a flood and most of the water spills over the dam and onto the road, and at times has blocked the road. Garry has planned the design of the dam so that we can "catch" a lot more of the flood water and hold it in our dam to use on our gardens. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">The "lake" was only completed last week so it's still very bare around the banks. We need to spread some grass seed just before the rain comes and get the grass growing. I have a picture in my mind of how beautiful it will be and I expect it will surpass that. Already the duck families are loving the extra space. </span><br />

<br />
<span style="color: blue; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It was a very mild winter here in Brisbane but for those living on the streets the nights still carried a chill. I broke out the old loom and made about 40 beanies in all different sizes and a few different shapes (some planned, some not).</span><br />
<span style="color: blue; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7lV280Dh2zBHhyphenhyphenh8ChQFtpwoJYwOEADn_EMmbYXsYfb1PizJME2GM9QW2BthqOsdABMcKhqIz8GEQz3R466gHTzcrqj77Ob7yWhV3bwmR8sN0QoI2KVpOKPCBPR1gmk46gePWADeozY5Z/s1600/Beanies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7lV280Dh2zBHhyphenhyphenh8ChQFtpwoJYwOEADn_EMmbYXsYfb1PizJME2GM9QW2BthqOsdABMcKhqIz8GEQz3R466gHTzcrqj77Ob7yWhV3bwmR8sN0QoI2KVpOKPCBPR1gmk46gePWADeozY5Z/s320/Beanies.jpg" width="320" /></a><span style="color: blue; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I then joined a group called Knitting for Brisbane's Needy and donated my beanies to their cause. KBN provide amazing support for the homeless around Brisbane and do their best to provide them all with beanies and blankets all year round.</span><br />
<br /><span style="color: blue; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I will do this again before the start of next winter.</span>Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01293543472670720544noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4669586342951257647.post-32639611859260224992017-12-07T15:13:00.007+10:002017-12-07T15:44:20.345+10:00Recent Reads<br />

I think back on the 20+ months since I last posted and I wonder why it's taken me so long to get back here.</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Although I haven't blogged, I still love a simple life, </span><span style="color: purple; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I like time to myself to potter and create.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="color: purple; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">For a few reasons the last 12 months have taken a little turn down a more spiritual road. More meditation, more yoga, more time just noticing the importance of breathe, and the sights and sounds that surround me.</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">There has been time spent exploring things like energy fields and the belief that we all belong to one consciousness and maybe we can develop the ability to see the aura of a person and touch their energy.</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">And just maybe there are beings that I can't see that are guiding me gently in this new direction.</span><br />

<span style="color: #20124d; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">A Brand New Year and a Brand New Day it was time to find a different walking route. It's amazing what is going on so close to home but out of sight from our everyday routine.</span><br />
<span style="color: #20124d; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />Beautiful flowers, a gorgeous flame tree and knitwear for trees and signal posts.</span><br />

They self seed each year and not always where we want them but we put up with them to get these little beauties. I'm about to make my favourite Cherry Tomato and Chili Jam <a href="http://two-days-at-a-time.blogspot.com.au/2011/11/cherry-tomato-and-sweet-chilli-jam.html" target="_blank">blog post here</a> and last weekend I made some roasted tomato soup. I know it's not really soup weather here in QLD but I work in a really cold office and as I'm not a Coffee drinker, soup is a great thing to have for morning tea.</span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm6pV0JdfC7d8fuaMRz0cBxxqzj9UWmil8di2WOq0o97HJ-Cw_CGKlHjbsvDJMWGmAlqyIPQFSOEpRC7ze8nYPyl3lygl-Afi0D-uCYFwpHj0ITICP9Jda7rBbjv-lf9StUcD18XoYh4B2/s1600/IMG_1570.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="color: #660000; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It's healthy gluten free, dairy free and nutritious so it ticks all the boxes. I read a few different recipes but then just improvised. </span><span style="color: #660000; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />Here's what I did with around 30 grams of cherry and small roma tomatoes. </span><span style="color: #660000; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I cut them in half, put them in two baking trays and drizzled them with olive oil. I cut the top of a garlic bulb and put one in each tray. I then baked them for about 40 minutes at 180 degrees.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAq-uk7EHYdRGvgsLti9jrEyipzvfPZ_TYX9ow6KVfMcLQbYKOkV0I2h-agote9U9wlMi-KxqRsfVnFg3RShhPjaAWaa4-2J3Z6xbXSlxgD2mAw3YjkshOvIEx8bq5DWiWAlPpNaFDRxUs/s1600/soup+cropped.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAq-uk7EHYdRGvgsLti9jrEyipzvfPZ_TYX9ow6KVfMcLQbYKOkV0I2h-agote9U9wlMi-KxqRsfVnFg3RShhPjaAWaa4-2J3Z6xbXSlxgD2mAw3YjkshOvIEx8bq5DWiWAlPpNaFDRxUs/s200/soup+cropped.jpg" width="182" /></a></span></div>
<br /><br /><span style="color: #660000; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I then transferred the tomatoes to the Thermomix. I squeezed the garlic out of the cloves and then blended it all on speed 9 for a couple of minutes. At the end of the blending it looked like tomato puree and there were no skins to be seen. I added about 2 cups of water and a couple of tablespoons of my vegetable stock - <a href="http://two-days-at-a-time.blogspot.com.au/2014/07/making-stock-powder.html" target="_blank">recipe here.</a> I then cooked it on 100 degrees for 15 mins and finished it off by blending it for another minute.</span><span style="color: #660000; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I didn't add any cream as I'm dairy free so just ate as is, and it was delicious :-)</span><br />

I have good days and bad days with this but finding a good bread recipe will make it easier.</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Today I used this recipe from the <a href="http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/baking-savoury-recipes/paleo-bread-converted-elenas-pantry-wwwwholefoodiekitchen/105636" target="_blank">Thermomix Community</a> but it was adapted from a non-Thermomix recipe and they provide the link if you don't have a Thermomix. It was super easy and tastes really good. The recipe has honey in but I don't like sweet bread so inside of 35 grams I just used 15 grams. I haven't tried toasting it yet but it's not crumbly so should be fine.</span><br />

<span style="color: #274e13;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #274e13;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Our baby chicks are laying little eggs and our big chooks have the whole size range covered.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #274e13;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #274e13;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">That big one is 127grams!!! Some poor chook must be a little sore tonight. The one on the left (as you look at the pic) is a standard 60gram egg.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #274e13;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">It's lucky we aren't a professional egg farm, our sorters would be having all kinds of problems.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #274e13;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />Can't wait to see how many yokes are in that big one. We often get 2 but I'm sure this will be more. Stay tuned.</span></span><br />

Super simple to make and a great replacement for cheese and dips. These photos show you how to make it rather than how to eat it. There are many ways to enjoy yoghurt cheese. Add herbs or chilli or honey just depends on whether you want a sweet or savoury flavour. Sometimes I don't add anything and just spread some on a rice cake for a really quick snack. </span></span><br />

<span style="color: #274e13;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I use a plastic strainer that fits nicely into a plastic jug.</span></span><br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #274e13;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I place a piece of muslin inside the strainer and then pour in a whole container of my favourite five:am plain yoghurt. </span></span><br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #274e13;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">It then needs something on the top to weigh it down. This pushed all of the liquid out. The liquid is full of pro-biotic so good to put into food or a drink.</span></span><br />

For many many years it was a staple treat for the kids and a lot healthier for them than I ever led them to believe.</span></span><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU23gxgPWEG2VQps9-lcCBczO8VKMx9TwDwm8SOPT2rxQ7TKV89AbVmyt0s6GGv7qMoJRR-kAO9yBlChIBkkRgpHW9HMldTuG1sgfDwQLIrfFgEberIXQjn-zT_IuKFJm1KhWITbfXMdnX/s1600/August+1+026.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU23gxgPWEG2VQps9-lcCBczO8VKMx9TwDwm8SOPT2rxQ7TKV89AbVmyt0s6GGv7qMoJRR-kAO9yBlChIBkkRgpHW9HMldTuG1sgfDwQLIrfFgEberIXQjn-zT_IuKFJm1KhWITbfXMdnX/s1600/August+1+026.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: purple;"> </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: purple;">I don't follow a recipe so they are a bit different every time.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: purple;">This is today's recipe. I didn't actually measure anything so I'm going have a stab at the quantity. Basically use just whizz it up till it all starts to stick together. If it's too dry to stick together, just add more dates.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: purple;">15 Medjool Dates (seed removed)</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: purple;">1 Cup Almonds</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: purple;">1/4 Cup Chia Seeds</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: purple;">1/2 Cup Shredded Coconut</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: purple;">1 teaspoon of vanilla paste</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: purple;">2 tablespoons Cacao Powder </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: purple;">I used the turbo button on the Thermomix until it's combined and sticking together. Then form into balls and rolled in Sesame Seeds.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: purple;">I like to take a couple of these to work to have mid afternoon rather than visiting the chocolate box or the vending machine. Two is plenty to cure a sweet craving. </span></span><br />

I don't know much about trees but apparently Magnolia's are the early bloomers and I'll take that as a sign that spring is nearly here.</span></span>Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01293543472670720544noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4669586342951257647.post-81367852135133422712014-07-30T15:33:00.001+10:002014-07-30T15:33:52.643+10:00Our First 1/2 Dozen<br />
<span style="color: #274e13;">Yesterday we got our first 1/2 dozen eggs in one day. We've have had Polly, Penny and Prue for over a year now and recently introduced Suzi Q, Sybil and Sabrina. </span><br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD6qtjNAKJScWz8_ZZ8kU81wozFYLWitqnkcTDt_fGFKKJHO2zAHoYr7SEXx8vyR1j-xKHZEbkpGh5sh6g9dFHXwKDPihglUQTl2PNEpB00PbEiVvoFBxEFz_jg7emomSmhvmVfw5T2e-p/s1600/Chicks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD6qtjNAKJScWz8_ZZ8kU81wozFYLWitqnkcTDt_fGFKKJHO2zAHoYr7SEXx8vyR1j-xKHZEbkpGh5sh6g9dFHXwKDPihglUQTl2PNEpB00PbEiVvoFBxEFz_jg7emomSmhvmVfw5T2e-p/s1600/Chicks.jpg" height="192" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sabrina, Suzi Q and Sybil</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="color: #274e13;"></span><br />
<span style="color: #274e13;">We bought them all when they were just a few days old and hand reared them. This is a fun exercise and we prefer it to buying "point of lay" chooks although it can be a bit challenging intergrating them with the existing flock.</span><br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK5_1kTP8OguZYK3nP6QzJPMIw7ADTg9QdrLeS492IXEGrLQofcs8fL3HgYaFiIsUQ_qajgf6Y5uTgmN1WCR08X65cY-231A96XDMW-C5XZVaqTxJtYTGUDGLW2AMVbzxj1JhmSFxztPNG/s1600/Jennies+phone+205.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK5_1kTP8OguZYK3nP6QzJPMIw7ADTg9QdrLeS492IXEGrLQofcs8fL3HgYaFiIsUQ_qajgf6Y5uTgmN1WCR08X65cY-231A96XDMW-C5XZVaqTxJtYTGUDGLW2AMVbzxj1JhmSFxztPNG/s1600/Jennies+phone+205.JPG" height="150" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">3 Big 3 Small</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="color: #274e13;"></span><br />
<span style="color: #274e13;">These little ones lived in a house below the big chook house until they were big enough to climb the ramp to the "big house". That's when the big chooks decided they didn't want to share the house. It only took a few days for the little chooks to realise if they got in before the big chooks did they could move to the back of the house and bed down for the night. </span><br />
<span style="color: #274e13;"></span><br />
<span style="color: #274e13;">Now that they are laying eggs I'm sure they will be better accepted by the bigger chooks.</span><br />

<span style="color: #0c343d;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This is my twist on the old Zucchini slice. I had ham that needed to be used, an excess of pumpkin and eggs (one of the baby chicks laid for the first time today).</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #0c343d;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #0c343d;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #0c343d;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I cubed up some Cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese and grated in the Thermomix. The weight was 120 grams all up - mixed for about 5 seconds on speed 8. Put the cheese aside in a bowl. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #0c343d;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #0c343d;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I then roughly chopped one carrot and about 200g pumpkin. Put the carrot, pumpkin and an onion cut in half into the Thermomix. I then chopped on speed 5 for about 6 seconds.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #0c343d;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Ready to eat</td></tr>

<span style="color: #0c343d;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Then I roughly chopped up a whole red capsicum and put this in to the Thermomix with the other vegetables and a few sages leaves I got from the garden. I chopped just for a 2 seconds on speed 4.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #0c343d;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #0c343d;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Then back in with the cheese, 6 eggs, 50 grams macadamia oil, 170g chopped ham a good pinch of salt and pepper and 150g of SR Flour.</span></span><br />
